Orders for Intraday Auction can be submitted either via Excel sheets or directly in the platform.

1. How to download Excel templates

To place bids via Excel sheets, you need to use the template given by the platform.

Click the "Download templates" button in the bottom left corner of the home screen.


A pop-up window appears:

Choose the order type you want templates for and whether you want instructions included.

Click "Yes" to download template.


2. How to fill in the Excel template

The first eight rows contains information needed for a successful upload of the Excel file.

The information in column B can be amended if needed.

  • Type: Type of bids (Block or Curve).
  • Exported At: Export time for the Excel sheet (no changes needed).
  • Date: Delivery date for the bid (Format: DD/MM/YYYY).
  • Time Zone: Time zone for the bid (CET/CEST).
  • Member: Name of organization sending in the bids.
  • PortfolioName of portfolio to submit bids for.
  • AreaWhich area to place bids in.
  • CurrencyCurrency for the bids.


You will find templates for all the chosen order types in different tabs in the bottom left corner of the Excel sheet.


Follow step 2a) for filling in Curve Orders, and step 2b) for Block Orders.


a) Curve Orders

To send in Curve Orders via Excel sheets, use the second part of the downloaded Excel template and make your personalized bids:

  • Price Steps
    The first row in the screenshot above shows the price steps.
    Min. and max. price is included by default and must always have a column even though you have no volumes in these.
    It is possible to have up to 200 price steps.

  • Volume bids
    Insert volumes (MW) for each Power Hour and corresponding price step to make your Curve Orders.
    Positive (+) volume means buy bids, and negative (-) volume means sell bids.
    If you leave a volume field empty, the platform will read it as a zero.
    Hour 1 is 12:00 - 13:00 CET, Hour 2 is 13:00 - 14:00 CET, and so on.


b) Block Orders

To send in Block Orders via Excel sheets, use the downloaded Excel Block template and make your personalized bids:

  • Block Orders:
    Name: choose a unique name for each of your blocks.
    From and To: Indicates the start and stop time of the block.
    Volume: MW to bid for the selected period.
    Price: Strike price for selected block.
    Min.%: A defined percentage that the block can be curtailed down to.
    Link: Currently not in use and should be left empty.
    Hour 1-12: Leave empty


  • Profile Blocks:
    Name: choose a unique name for each of your blocks
    From and To: Indicates the start and stop time of the block.
    Volume: Leave empty
    Price: Strike price for selected block.
    Min.%: A defined percentage that the block can be curtailed down to.
    Link: Currently not in use and should be left empty.
    Hour 1-12: Insert MW bids for each hour indicated in From and To. 


3. How to upload orders

To upload the Excel sheets with orders, click the "Upload" button on the home screen. 

Upload your Excel sheet in the pop-up window that appears by either "drag and drop" of your file, or by locating it on your computer via the "Select from your computer" button.

Then click "Submit" in the upper right corner to send your orders to Nord Pool.


4. How to update orders

To update orders, simply re-upload your Excel file with the updated orders. The previous orders for all tabs in the new Excel sheet will be overwritten by the new one.

To verify that the order was correctly updated, download  the latest version by clicking on the portfolio name in the home screen.


5. How to delete orders

To delete orders, go to the home screen and click on the x as shown in picture below. Confirm removal of bids in the following pop-up window.

To delete all orders, click on the x on the top row and confirm in the following pop-up window.
